I have been watching the painted cow campaign in Morrinsville with interest and been impressed by what has been created. I went to Morrinsville College and thought this would be a great way to get involved and leave a positive mark in the town by painting a cow.
I have over 25 years experience as a graphic designer, illustrator & mixed media artist.
My company Riverstone Design Studio was formed in 2002 after the end of my professional rugby career.
The retro cow concept has come about through a series of designs presented to the sponsor. It is the combination of my love of all things retro and the connection to the sponsors business. I wanted a bright funky cow that will be timeless, just like the Retro phase itself.
Fitness Furnishings was originally a cabinetmaking firm that sold furniture that they created, though their retail store, along with other NZ suppliers' furniture. Floor coverings and curtain fabrics were also available. Brothers Ray & Leon Fitness joined their fathers as cabinetmakers upon leaving school, followed by their wives when they joined the family. In 2001, the original business became 2 separate entities, and today are owned/managed by the 3rd generation - Fitness Furnishings by Anthony (Tony) Fitness, with Ray & Barbara Fitness often in store; and Morrinsville Flooring Xtra & Beds R Us by Jeanette Cameron (nee Fitness) and husband Craig. Retro Cowch has a couch on one side and a bed on the other.
