We commissioned Vicki Carruthers to paint our cow and wanted to reflect Piako’s and Morrinsville’s strong dairying heritage .

Piako’s strength is retail of agricultural products and we wanted to capture this in use and also bring out different contours and applications of this machinery in the field. We also asked Vicki to bring into effect the back drop of the very picturesque Kaimai Mountain Range in particular the Te Aroha mast. We believe all this has been greatly achieved.

We are pleased to support the project and believe this will showcase Morrinsville and the businesses within the town.

Artist

As a painter and sculptor I seek to express permanent and transient qualities of landscapes in paint and stone, taking inspiration from landscapes with energy, colour and strong form. I approached the cow in the same way – capturing activities to be recognisable but with spontaneity and using the cow’s shape to enhance or link the elements. I have painted and sculpted for over 25 years and am a founding member of Artnexus. My work can be found at www.artnexus.co.nz.
