With a strong interest in colour, design and Resene paint, we were pleased to be in the first group of sponsors to bring the Herd of Cows to Morrinsville. Teaming up with glass artist, Heather Olesen, was perfect. Our ideas were guided by Heathers creative and technical skills and working together we are proud of our creation. We wanted a cow which had the wow factor and reflected paint and colours. Heather’s idea of “Colourella” daring to be different, dressing up and bravely presenting herself, fit the profile perfectly. The addition of a paint brush tail and “paint can” shoes topped off what we feel is a great representation of our store - colour, pizzazz and individuality.

Working as a Contemporary Kiln Glass Artist, Heather enjoys the many facets and combinations of colours & techniques when working on the design of the glass form. It is the visual beauty of glass, plus the inviting illusions that captured her passion and imagination to work with such a challenging medium. Learning from the generous open teachings of Master Glass Artists, Heather plans to further develop & explore the use of illusions, of contrast in colours, value and tone used, so as to distinguish between forms in the epitomising dualism of negative and positive space.
